The favorite boys : Marks and Spencer

•December 5, 2006 • 1 Comment

It has to be Marks and Spencer as the favorite boys among supermarket lovers.

This large Britain chain has come to Singapore with much greater success than Harrods.

It brought joy and laughter to kids,me and hopefully all the girls out there.

Introducing some great finds:

Marks and Spencer’s chocolate chip cookies.

Made with real not-s0-sweet chocolate chips. Great to go for a snack or breakkie with milo, mocha, coffee, tea, even water. It is just nice on its own.

chocolatechip.jpg

This comes with a fabulous story-

One halloween day, the children in my estate was all dressed up in witches, princesses, freakheads and what nots , all ready to go Trick or Treating.

The bell rang at my house and my “auntie” went to open the door, saw the paint-faced kids, gory looks, messy hairs and WEIRD outfits, went into a shock and thus BANG the door in their faces.

She ran to us exclaiming what to do.

After realising that it was Halloween, she immediately took the whole jar of Marks and Spencer cookies open the door again and thrust the whole jar into the Halloween’s kids’ hands and ran in back home.

Obviously, she was still mortified and astonished by this whole Trick and Treat thing.

After hunching at the door for a few minuties, she slowly peered open, hoping to find the empty jar out there.

She did this continously for a few days, hoping the jar would come back to her.

For us, we totally could not believe she :

#1: Give the kids ALL our favorite chocolate chip cookies

#2 : Lost the beautiful jar and expect to get it back

Duh… the jar did not come back.

Next… Marks and Spencer’s Apple Cinnamon Crunch.

apple-cinnamon.jpg

This is a new find at M&S. It tastes great as a breakfast cereal with milk or yoghurt.

It has dried apples, super super crunchy oat pieces chunks(which is the best part),cinnamon sprinkled everywhere and yoghurt pieces.

Eat it as a snack or breakkie will be good.

Be sure to taste the yoghurt pieces on their own because they taste really good.

Guess what I have been catching up.

My lost TV time and all.

Fox serial : House.

It is similar to Grey’s anatomy minus the sex steamy scenes + super handsome doctors.

It goes case by case and it does freak you out by reminding you on how important health can be.

Worth checking out.

After TVB-妙手人心, I haven’t really find any doctor show which quite caught my interest.

Worth checking it out at youtube, if you are bored!

A random thought.

At times which you feel lonely.

At times which you feel empty and abandoned.

Maybe it’s time to question :

‘Have you forgotten how is it like to be alone?’

‘ Have you forgotten how to be independent?

Do you have a dream?

•December 2, 2006 • Leave a Comment

When we were young, we were always ask to write 作文。

We were definitely asked to write at least once : <<我的志愿〉〉。

What were your dreams when you were young?

What were your dreams now?

Did they change? It is okay to change.

But most importantly, do you still have a dream?

Do you still have a passion to chase for?

Do you dare to hold on to that dream and in your heart, hope that one day before you leave this world, you will want to fufill it.

They say, life is hard without a dream.

But frankly, as I gone through education now at university, life has slipped into a monotonous mode.

School in school out, home in home out, life on this earth with temptations, unpredicatable events, unhappiness, death and sickness…

Time on this earth is scarce.

When we go to work, it is even worse.

Many I had seen, gone into a job that they do not enjoy.

They just pin for Friday.

Do we still remember our dreams? Do we still have?

I am afraid of that, I do not want to go ahead 5 years even with a beautiful results card or a nice resume but end up realising my life has been empty without a dream.

I need to know what I want to do, what I like after so many years.

But it is hard, I am the most fickle person as far as I know.

I can change my mind with a flick of candle.

I can be restless in just a blink of an eye.

I am darn unpredictable with swinging emotions and such that I do not even understand myself.

For at least, with God’s grace, I came into SCI.

I slowly touched my way around and although friends have said I am most apt for PPC, but for one thing, I do not like human relationships and computers.

But at least I slowly realise I like Asian media and music , history and the arts.

I hope to go into chinese media when I graduate eventually, hoping to produce MTVs,hoping to do broadcast or chinese programs.

That’s at least one thing I can work towards to.

But I have another thing that I really wished to try out for ever since a long time: Fashion design and management.

When news broke that Italy will be collaborating with NTU-SADAM ,I was pretty excited.

I have actually did some homework and hope that with His grace, I might be able to do fashion design somewhere after my degree. ( preferably, Australia duh!).

I do not aim to be a renowned fashion design or stylist etc, but at least I want to try.

I can  freelance design clothes for my loved ones, and definitely for the poor and needy and also for little children who cannot afford nice clothes( although I am not fond of wanky kids, they still touched my heart at times).

I need something outside of my mainstream job to sustain me.

I always believed that something you enjoy shouldnt be made a mainstream part of your life.

It is nice to think of such stuff, at least I know it is realistic and it is attainable.

Most importantly, knowing what I want to do in future and praying everyday to God, makes me alive.

The sights and sounds

#1 : On the MRT train seats

on my way to Kbox today with the CS girls, I witness a true sight of Singapore.

Almost every sit is filled with an old folk. Every single one with different shades of white and grey hair.

As usual, some people pretend to be asleep and not give up their seat while some kind souls took the effort to. Cheers to them!

Oh but giving up seats is a terror, what if the Ah Ma scold you for giving up or someone who is not pregnant but just looks pregnant?

So my rule is just to stand and save all the unnecessary.

#2 : The aussie guys

Yes, I love anything Aussie, esp those from Sydney.

So behold as two Aussie dudes step in to the train at Buona Vista and they are seriously cute.

I hardly comment on guys being cute because I think Mankind are all the same, so they are really cute.

But… guess what they did.

They keep shuffling around trying to pounce onto any empty seat that shld be for the standing old folks.

They push around like some Aunties to grab the seat , seemingly playing musical chairs with the old folks.

It was a ridiculous sight.

I can’t stop guffawing behind my book.

So TADddd*…. not cute anymore. A handsome face must match a pretty heart.

#3: Kbox was fun as usual.

I cant find any Kbox session that is not fun.

Although I cant really sing without going off beat unlike pebs, adeline,rj and zhane.

The cine one is big and airy, just that the staff seems so rude.

Oh nevermind, do check Keith Urban new album. It rocks. If you don’t have, I do.

I realise that I am little Miss Jukebox as well.

And the next Bubbles Awards for TVB drama:

triumph.jpg

I love TVB so much and I have this blessed gift of picking up Cantonese, my mum’s hairdresser told me to marry a Hongkie.

This brought me back to the time at Adam Road food centre for Sarah’s birthday.

We were happen to be taking about marriage.

They were telling me not to go India then and marry and not come back.

I told them say I only like Asians and we all rattle off our preferences.

It came to Jinny and she said that she only wants chinese Singaporean men.

Immediately, me , sarah and Renita all stared at her with great astonishment. And we started going ” Huh”, “Why”, ” Are you crazy”.

I can totally imagine all these rumblings about Singaporean man going on as Janus sat down there listening and trying to act oblivious that he is true blue NS-trained Singaporean boy.. LOL. Poor thing. Too bad he is our Jie Mei. LOL.

What makes you different(makes you beautiful)-BSB

You don’t run with the crowd
You go your own way
You don’t play after dark
You light up my day

Got your own kind of style
That sets you apart
Baby that’s why you’ve captured my heart

I know sometimes you feel
Like you don’t fit in
And this world doesn’t know
What you have within

When I look at you
I see something rare
A rose that can grow anywhere
And there’s no one I know that can compare

Chorous:
What makes you different
Makes you beautiful
What’s there inside you
Shines through to me
In your eyes I see all the love I’ll ever need
What makes you different makes you beautiful to me

You’ve got something so real
You touched me so deep (touched me so deep)
The material things
Don’t matter to me
So come as you are
You’ve got nothing to prove
You won me with all the you do

And I wanna take this chance to say to you

Chorous

You don’t know how you’ve touched my life
Oh there’s so many ways, I just can’t describe
You taught me what love is supposed to be
It’s all the little things that made you beautiful to me

Chorous

(in background)
Everything in you is beautiful
Love you give shines right through me
Everything in you is beautiful
Beautiful to me (to me)

this book is fantastic!

To rescue her family from poverty and avoid marrying her slope-shouldered cousin, seventeen-year-old Orchid competes to be one of the Emperor wives. When she is chosen as a lower-ranking concubine she enters the erotically charged and ritualised Forbidden City. But beneath its immaculate fa蓷de lie whispers of murders and ghosts, and the thousands of concubines will stoop to any lengths to bear the Emperor son.Orchid trains herself in the art of pleasuring a man, bribes her way into the royal bed, and seduces the monarch, drawing the attention of dangerous foes. Little does she know that China will collapse around her, and that she will be its last Empress.

From me: It is so nice that no matter how exhausted I am after work. I stayed till 2 odd to read it! I love china history, because I am a chinese! but nevertheless, I will prefer it i chinese version, as some of the poems seems nicer in chinese!Yippy! borrow from me. I have a library at home! :)

What makes you different(makes you beautiful)

This has always been my favorite Backstreet Boy song.

I am not into any popish culture, but this song has always stuck with me since my teen years because i felt that the lyrics were meaningful.

Not only for a love song, but just the title itself.

As sometimes you grow up and look back in times.

You will start to ask yourself?

What makes you different from the rest?

Why are you special?

You look at your grades, they are average.

You look into the mirror, you felt imperfect.

You look at your sketches, they look like limpy figures.

You look at your life, you wish you could turn back time.

What makes you an individual?

I slowly learn to see that all it takes is for your heart.

Because in your heart, you want to share the good things with others who might not even be your friend.

Because in your mind, you felt for that poor granny down the street selling ding-ding candy at Holland Village.

Because in your hands, you wish you could do something to ease the pain of that foreign worker whose eyes are bandaged.

It’s because you have a heart of grace, faith and hope.

That is what makes you special.

Makes you different.

Makes you beautiful.

And God has said it so in 1 Sam:16: God does not look at what Man look at. Man looks at the outer appearance but God looks at the heart.

Started work yesterday.

I almost went mad because I was given photoshop and dreamweaver to help my most hated conglomerate SIA to do an email add.

I stayed way past working hours, something which I have never done in SPH.

I have a hidden thought to quit, to just turned my back.

But i shall pray to hang on.

I went for tooth operation this morning.

I witness sad sights.

There were sick people all around in midst the beautiful greenery.

On my way home, I saw an Indian foreign worker with his eyes bandaged into two patches and his arms scarred.

In the pharmacy, I saw an old man with a whole basketful not of goodies or what-so, but a full basket of packs and packs of medicine that have to completed in a month.

I feel for them.

Pls, I pray that they will all be fine and lessen of their pain.

Rocks!

I have changed my blog.

So exciting.

The main reason for changing was due to me forgetting the silly password for livejournal.

I can’t believe it. I did not even know about my password right from the start!

On a happier note, exams has ended!

After 6 whole core, after a crazy sem with loads of unhappiness here and there. It has finally ended.

When I put down my pen for CS111 today, I realise that I will be seeing all the Year 1s for the last time!

Ok, frankly speaking… some are really Okay.

I guess it applies to every single batch, like some are nice but some are just unbearble.

But at least I grew closer to the Year 2 peeps this semester, which I do not know how as I did not even do project with them.

Frankly, seeing them makes me happy. even tho the Year 2s did not do anything, I always felt better seeing them! haha.

Just like to blog about a present surprise that came through snail mail.

I love snail mail.

I am comtemplating to writing a journal and not blog anymore.

I really think computers makes Man reliant on it and also disrupt relationships.

gift.jpg image000.jpg

Yeap, seriously look at the addresee name: its Ng Ah Mah.

How sickening, I really wonder what the post man think.

This is of course send by my silly friend of four years now serving the NS in Australia( My fav place). He used a discarded A4 paper as well as a paperchase pencil which he plans to save it for Uni. I had a similar black mental that was from him since JC which ALWAYS drop in econs lecture, making things so paiseh.

Not to forget!.this pencil box is a friendship pencil box.

I still remember how Janus actually start picking up all my contents where he picked up some ear twig and insist it was mine and Peiqi. We so couldn’t start laughing at him ever since, till today.

But anyway, it was a nice one nonetheless during the silly exams! So thanks man, hope you just rot in Australia forever.

Starting work on Friday. Hope that it will be good :)
